Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas. It is vital to the transportation and storage of glucose. Insulin allows glucose to get into the cells which need glucose for energy and helps keep blood sugar levels in normal range. Too much insulin indicates low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) while low insulin production indicates high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
