Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by viruses, alcohol, drugs or poisons.  This is a fairly common disease and can lead to serious scarring (cirrhosis) of the liver and liver failure.  According to recent CDC statistics, there are over 3 million people in the U.S. living with hepatitis B or C and most do not know they are infected.

November is National Diabetes Month

According to recent statistics provided by the American Diabetes Association, approximately 30.3 million Americans or 9.4% of the population had diabetes.  Of the 30.3 million adults with diabetes, 23.1 million were diagnosed, and 7.2 million were undiagnosed.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, factors such as lack of exercise, a diet high in saturated fat, and more than two alcoholic drinks per day can all increase your chances of getting the breast cancer. Being obese or overweight also increases the risk, so it's a good idea to follow a healthly meal plan and exercise regularly.
