Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) is an enzyme primarily present in the kidney, liver and pancreatic cells. GGT helps the liver metabolize drugs and other toxins. The test is often ordered as a follow up to other liver tests such as ALT, AST, ALP and bilirubin. Symptoms of liver damage may include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal swelling/pain, jaundice, dark urine, light colored stool, and itching.
