STDs are infections that are passed from one person to another during sex, intravenous drug use or nonsexual contact such as childbirth or breastfeeding. Sexually transmitted diseases may not show immediate symptoms, but are common and most are fairly easily treated. This panel is used to screen for sexually transmitted diseases and to monitor existing disease. See individual test listed below for further detail.

Test Includes

Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes 1 and 2, HIV, Syphilis (RPR)

Preparation

Since herpes test is included, we recommend waiting 3 months from suspected time of exposure. For urine part of test, do no urinate within one hour prior to collection. Female patients should not cleanse the labial area prior to providing the specimen and should not use a douche or vaginal creams.
